Computer visual syndrome
Computer visual syndrome – the changes in an eyeball arising during the long work at the computer. Clinical manifestations are characterized by decrease in visual acuity, development of habitual and excess violation of accommodation, emergence of feeling of weight, feeling of a foreign matter in eyes, reddening of an eyeball. Apply external examination, definition of visual acuity and nature of sight to diagnostics, carry out a tonometriya, computer perimetry, autorefractometry, an avtokeratometriya. Treatment only conservative, consists in purpose of the moistening drops, correction of a work-rest schedule.
Computer visual syndrome
The computer visual syndrome is the simptomokompleks caused by an overstrain of visual system as a result of long work at the computer. The term "computer visual syndrome" was entered by the American ophthalmologists in 1998 as a result of combination of features of changes in an eyeball when using the computer. According to modern representations, work in itself at the computer is not a source of serious organic pathology. The majority of problems is connected with functional changes in eyes, a neck, a back, shoulders etc. In the course of work there is a continuous movement of a view from the display of the keyboard that considerably increases load of eyes. Most often pathology occurs aged from 18 up to 45 years at the people who are constantly working at the computer. At women the computer syndrome develops quicker, than at men.
An eye of the person as a result of evolutionary development adapted to perceive objects and texts only in the reflected light, it is badly adapted for perception of information from monitors of the computer or the tablet. The image on displays of the computer equipment is presented in the form of points and the shining pixels that considerably differs from the paper text. On the monitor of the computer of the line of letters are less contrast and have no clear boundary. All this reduces the accuracy of akkomodatsionny focusing and leads to accommodation lag formation. Accommodation is an ability of a crystalline lens to change the form (to become either flat, or more convex) for exact focusing on objects which are located at different distance from a human eye.
During the long work at the computer the akkomodatsionny mechanism of an eyeball is in constant tension that causes violations in focusing of an eye. Involuntary switchings of a view from the display of the so-called point of rest of accommodation located behind the computer screen result. Such switchings from focus on the screen in a point of rest result in fatigue and a bigger overstrain of the akkomodatsionny device of an eye. Besides, during the work there is a considerable decrease in frequency of blinkings owing to long fixing of a look on the monitor. All this promotes development of a computer visual syndrome.
Symptoms and diagnostics
Clinical manifestations of this syndrome share on visual and eye. Refer decrease in visual acuity, development of habitual and excess violation of accommodation to visual symptoms (the patient can show complaints to a vagueness of objects at transfer of a look from the computer screen afar). Emergence of a diplopiya, discomfort when reading is possible. Also at a computer syndrome Mac-Kalakh's effect (at transfer of a view from the display of the computer of a wall the color spot appears) can be found. At development of eye symptomatology patients show complaints to feeling of weight, a foreign matter in an eye. Reddening of a conjunctiva is visually noted. Emergence of morbidity at the movement by eyeballs is possible. Also pain syndrome can extend to nadglaznichny and frontal areas. From complications of a computer syndrome allocate development of a syndrome of a dry eye, a miopiya of weak degree, accommodation paresis.
Diagnostics of a computer visual syndrome begins with collecting the anamnesis. Then the standard complex of inspections is carried out. External examination is carried out, sharpness and the nature of sight is defined, the tonometriya, computer perimetry, autorefractometry, an avtokeratometriya is carried out. The biomicroscopy with use of a slot-hole lamp and aspherical lens is carried out. An obligatory part of inspection is the eye refraction research with application of a tsikloplegiya and definition of nature of sight (monocular or binocular). The volume of absolute and relative accommodation is measured.
Treatment and prevention
Treatment of a computer visual syndrome only conservative, is appointed at emergence of eye symptomatology. At such diagnosis in ophthalmology apply various options of the moistening drops or gels to protection of a cornea against drying and decrease in discomfort during the work at the computer. Prevention is the most effective way of prevention of development of a computer visual syndrome. It is necessary to do breaks in work at the computer, it is desirable – each hour (on the SanPiN for the working day lasting 8 watch breaks in the sum have to make not less than 1,5 hours, for 12-hour shift — not less than 2 hours during the shift) and to carry out exercises for relaxation of accommodation of an eye (for 2-3 minutes).
During the regular long work with the personal computer it is desirable to consider a number of rules for reduction of symptoms of a computer visual syndrome, it is correct to organize a working zone. Sufficient lighting, the computer with the good display and correct settings is required. It is better to choose the monitor sizes on diagonal from 50 cm and above, with obligatory protection against flashings. It is necessary to maintain purity of the screen from dust. It is necessary to install the monitor at distance about 70 centimeters from eyes of the person. For more comfortable perception from settings of a desktop it is better to remove blue-violet colors, and to give preference to olive-brown scale (more comfortably for the visual analyzer). At permanent job at the computer it is regularly necessary to visit the ophthalmologist (it is desirable – 1 time in 6 months).
